Among the most important findings of this chart is that Prospect and Kentucky have the highest median income per capita of any city in Kentucky and the United States, and that they have a higher median income than the surrounding region. In terms of employment, Prospect (Kentucky) ranks first among Kentucky's largest cities with a median annual income of $50,000 and has the second highest average annual employment rate of any Kentucky city.
Figure 10 shows the percentage of non-Hispanic whites in Prospect, Kentucky, which includes both blacks and whites, as well as Hispanics, African Americans and Latinos. Figure 10 also shows gender - the median age of men and women in the city of Prospect, Kentucky, and the United States as a whole. Prospect also compares the average household size based on the average number of people per family in each Prospect household and compares the ratio of the number of men to the number of women. As for the divorce rate, Prospect has a higher average divorce rate than the surrounding region as measured by the percentage of divorces (8% of the total). The percentage of single people in the region, divided by persons who have never married, divorced or widowed, is compared with the US average of 50% and the number of people who are single for any reason (48%). The prospects are about half that of a state like Kentucky, but still about three times that of a country where one percent of all people are single, 48.5 percent.
Prospect Kentucky has the second highest percentage of men who have never been married and the third highest percentage of women who have never been married. Prospects ranks second in family size, behind only Kentucky, with an average of 2.8 children per woman. When sorted by the number and type of people in the region and by their age, Prospect Kentucky also has a higher number of people who have never been married, but not nearly as many as the US average (4.5 percent). Prospect has more than twice as many single people as Kentucky and about three times as many as all states with a population of unmarried men (1.7 percent) and women without children.
